About these terms

This site is run by Zachary Parker (Zach), who publishes software and games as Obby Studio. "I" and "me" mean me. "You" means anyone using the site.

Who owns what

Unless a page or file says otherwise, the text, design, images and concept art on this site are © 2026 Zachary Parker, all rights reserved. You're welcome to link to any page and quote short bits with credit. Don't republish the art or the site itself as your own.

Code in my public GitHub repositories is licensed separately, under the LICENSE and LICENSE-SCOPE.md files in each repository. Those licenses cover the code, not this site, and they leave out art, music and other creative assets. Some artwork in my projects belongs to other people and is used with their permission. See Notices for third-party credits.

Plans aren't promises

Project status, roadmaps, target dates (like Firstlight's first playable date) and feature descriptions are my current plans. They can change, slip or be dropped, and nothing on this site is an offer, a guarantee or a promise to deliver anything by a date. Concept art shows ideas, not what will ship.

Playtesting

You have to be 18 or older to apply, and the information you give should be accurate. Applying doesn't guarantee a spot, and I pick playtesters at my own discretion.

Playtest builds are unfinished. They're provided as is, can crash or lose progress, and are for personal testing only. Before you get a build, I may ask you to agree to separate playtest terms, such as keeping it private. How I handle your application is in the privacy policy.

No warranty

This site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. I try to keep it accurate, but I don't guarantee it, or that the site will always be up or free of errors.

Software you download from my repositories comes with its own license, which has its own warranty disclaimer. Use it at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I'm not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site, its content, or any linked site. That covers direct, indirect, incidental, consequential and special damages, and loss of data, profits or time, even if I was told it could happen.

Some places don't allow some of these exclusions. Where that's the case, they apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.

Using the site

Please don't try to break, overload or get unauthorized access to the site or the server it runs on, and don't use automated tools that put unreasonable load on it. I can block access to anyone doing that.

Links to other sites

Links to other sites, like GitHub and Discord, are there for convenience. I don't control those sites and I'm not responsible for their content, availability or policies.

Names and trademarks

Obby Studio, Firstlight, Defalt, GarageMaster and OpenAnvil are names I use for my projects. Other product names mentioned here belong to their owners, and mentioning them doesn't mean they endorse or are affiliated with me. See Notices.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it somewhere else.

The rest

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If I don't enforce something right away, I haven't given it up. These terms are the whole agreement about using this site.

I may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and using the site after that means you accept the new version.
